Hurricane Bob, a massive storm that hit the New England coast in 1991, causing mass destruction to iconic areas of Cape Cod – including Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard – as well as Rhode Island and New York. Because the Cape and surrounding islands had not been hit hard by a major storm since 1960, people were taken by unpleasant surprise by its wrath.
